Anger

Respond instead of react

Bhagavad Gita 2.63

"From anger comes delusion; from delusion, confusion of memory; from confusion of memory, ruin of intelligence; and from ruin of intelligence one perishes."

Modern interpretation

In the middle of the day, return to this: Anger is expensive: it costs you clarity, then memory, then choice. Pay attention before it bills you.

Practical action

Before responding to the thing irritating you, draft your reply, wait ten minutes, then re-read it.

Reflection question

What boundary is this anger asking me to set, calmly?
