Lakshmi is worshipped as the goddess of abundance, beauty and well-being — wealth that is earned cleanly and shared generously. This puja is offered on Diwali, on Fridays, and whenever a household prays for prosperity, stability and grace.

Pre-Puja Preparation

Lakshmi enters a home that is clean, lit and welcoming.

Clean the whole houseLakshmi is invited only where there is order — clear clutter, especially the entrance.
Bathe and wear fresh clothesPrefer red, pink or deep yellow; avoid black.
Rangoli and lamps at the doorwayDraw a rangoli with small footprints leading inward, and light diyas at the threshold.
Check the Pradosh Kaal muhuratLakshmi Puja is traditionally done after sunset, during Pradosh Kaal.

Chowki, Idols & Seating

Lakshmi is never seated alone — Ganesha sits to her right.

Deity Platform

Chowki placed against the North or East wall
Fresh red or pink unstitched cloth over the chowki
Lakshmi idol at centre, Ganesha to her right, Saraswati to her left
Akshat (unbroken rice) bed under each idol

Wealth & Account Offerings

Coins, jewellery or the household account book placed before the goddess
Small Kuber symbol or a silver coin for the treasury

Devotee Seating

Clean asan facing North or East
Brass plate or coaster under every diya
